It all started when…
I grew up in Hastings, and being the 4th child of an RN and a colonel in the U.S. army I developed a strong work ethic. Growing up I took pleasure in helping my neighbors and began working to earn my own money.
In 1992, at twelve I painted a sign advertising my lawn service on highway 55 It worked!!
Business was good and I spent the summers mowing lawns and the winters learning construction working for a local cabinet maker after school. By the end of high school, I knew I wanted to have my own business working with homes.
I obtained a B.S. in finance and business management, an education that would help me most while navigating the real estate market.
My vast experience in practical construction and education in finance has been the perfect combination that makes me uniquely qualified to provide real estate advice and service to my clients.
I purchased my first home in 2004 at the age of 24, remodeled it and resold it for a modest profit. I was hooked!
I began buying and rehabilitating homes throughout the metro and western Wisconsin. I worked with several real estate brokers at that time and while they could market a home they had little or no understanding in how to evaluate an investment opportunity, how to structure the most beneficial ratio of debt and equity or have the construction experience to estimate the cost of renovations for myself or other potential buyers. I found myself fielding questions from other agents, sellers and buyers who wanted to know about my approach and technique on which activities would add value and which ones to avoid when remodeling a home.
That is when I decided to stop paying mediocre brokers and agents and take more control of my own transactions. I quickly obtained licenses and started to practice real estate in St. Paul, Minneapolis and Western Wisconsin.
I intended on using my license simply to sell my own homes but soon was offering advise and working as a realtor for friends and relatives.
As an investor, I have been on every side of the transaction and an advocate for each party involved, buyers and sellers.
My career was built on experience I gained using my own life savings and labor rather than that of my clients. Over the years of continued service to hundreds of clients in the Metro and Western I've enjoyed helping people find a place they can call home.
